Masjid Al Farouq - Walsall (MAF) is seeking a dynamic Full-Time Imam to lead and uplift our youth, connect with the wider community, and provide strong religious guidance for today’s challenges.
ABOUT US
Since opening in 1994, MAF is established as one of the largest and oldest Jami’ Masajid in Walsall, running under the banner of Anjuman-E-Isha’at-E-Islam which has provided over 65 years of service to the community. Serving over 600 musallees daily, we now seek to appoint a passionate, dynamic, fluent English-speaking Imam dedicated to guiding and nurturing the next generation.
This role is more than traditional prayer leadership—it is a pivotal opportunity to empower youth, cultivate community growth, and address modern challenges through engaging, faith-based solutions to help shape the future of a growing and diverse Muslim Community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Development & Inspiration: Lead dynamic youth programs, deliver impactful sermons and create an environment which educates, inspires and engages younger members of the community
Religious Leadership & Guidance: Lead Jumu’ah, Daily prayers (on a Rota with other Imans), Tarawih (if Hafiz), Janazah, Eid Salah etc., and provide religious leadership and guidance to the community through Khutbahs, talks and other programs
Teaching & Mentoring: Support the Madrasah and Aalim Class; contribute to syllabus development and education strategy, shaping curricula to resonate with young learners to ensure they are spiritually and morally upright
Community Leadership & Outreach: Provide pastoral care, connect with families and Youth, and lead on interfaith and outreach initiatives that build bridges within and beyond our community.
Representation: Act as a public representative of MAF at schools, media events, interfaith forums, social media and scholarly gatherings
ABOUT YOU:
- At least 2 years' experience as an Imam
- Graduate of a reputable Islamic seminary with sound Hanafi Fiqh knowledge (UK institution preferred)
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (spoken and written),
- A passionate, dynamic, enthusiastic and charismatic Imam with strong public speaking, interpersonal, and pastoral abilities
- Solid understanding and demonstrated experience of addressing contemporary issues facing British Muslim Youth today
- An understanding of social media platforms and digital tools for effective communications and teaching
- A positive, humble, and service-oriented attitude
- Excellent character with a proactive attitude and the ability to take your own initiative
- High levels of integrity and an understanding of the higher purpose of this role
Beneficial / Advantageous Skills & Experience
- Hafiz of the Qur’an
- Experience running or supporting the running of a Madrasah or school
- Knowledge of South Asian Languages (e.g. Urdu, Gujarati, Bangla, Punjabi)
- Secular degree in addition to Aalimiyyah Qualification

- Competitive Salary - Salary Range £25,400 – £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications) for a 40-hour week.
