Teacher (Female) — Madrasah Al Farouq

The candidate should be a hardworking and enthusiastic teacher, dedicated to nurturing children in the recitation of the Qur’aan and developing good Islamic behaviour in students.

This is a dual role position. The successful candidate will:

  • Teach a group of young children working towards basic letter and sound development and recognition of the Arabic alphabet.
  • Teach older students who are partway through their Madrasah journey, working through our Qur’an and Kitab syllabus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Instilling recognition of the Arabic alphabet in singular & word form with correct pronunciation.
  • Preparing for exams and Jalsah.
  • Participating in staff meetings & professional development activities.
  • Integrating “Tarbiyah” of students (e.g. social responsibility, kindness, and other Islamic teachings/values) into daily routines.
  • Discussing students’ progress & concerns with parents and administrators.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, & safety within the classroom.

Working Hours

  • 4:30pm – 7:20pm, Monday to Friday

Qualifications, Experience & Desirables

  • Clear understanding of the rules of recitation of the Qur’an (including Makharij).
  • Experience as a Qur’aan teacher is preferable but not essential.
  • Very good at nurturing and mentoring children.
  • Motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and living the Qur’an.
  • Reliable and dedicated.
  • Able to manage a class of young students.
  • Sound knowledge of Islamic faith (Fiqh) and practice.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (orally and in writing).
  • Works well in a team.
