The candidate should be a hardworking and enthusiastic teacher, dedicated to nurturing children in the recitation of the Qur’aan and developing good Islamic behaviour in students.
This is a dual role position. The successful candidate will:
- Teach a group of young children working towards basic letter and sound development and recognition of the Arabic alphabet.
- Teach older students who are partway through their Madrasah journey, working through our Qur’an and Kitab syllabus.
Primary Responsibilities
- Instilling recognition of the Arabic alphabet in singular & word form with correct pronunciation.
- Preparing for exams and Jalsah.
- Participating in staff meetings & professional development activities.
- Integrating “Tarbiyah” of students (e.g. social responsibility, kindness, and other Islamic teachings/values) into daily routines.
- Discussing students’ progress & concerns with parents and administrators.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, & safety within the classroom.
Working Hours
- 4:30pm – 7:20pm, Monday to Friday
Qualifications, Experience & Desirables
- Clear understanding of the rules of recitation of the Qur’an (including Makharij).
- Experience as a Qur’aan teacher is preferable but not essential.
- Very good at nurturing and mentoring children.
- Motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and living the Qur’an.
- Reliable and dedicated.
- Able to manage a class of young students.
- Sound knowledge of Islamic faith (Fiqh) and practice.
- Able to communicate effectively in English (orally and in writing).
- Works well in a team.
